The month of May blooms large white cactus flowers on saguaros. The national park by the same name is a lovely place to stroll and witness the beauty.
When I first moved to Arizona, the saguaros lining the roads and mountainsides throughout Vail and Tucson were mesmerizing. I was delighted to learn they bloom beautiful white flowers during May and June each year.
The east and west sides of Saguaro National Park are ideal locations to see the blooms, given the sheer number of saguaros. These white beauties tend to be at their peak between sunrise and noon each day.
Cactus Forest Loop Drive, in the Rincon Mountain District (Saguaro East), offers a scenic driving experience with nice landscape views of blooming saguaros. I had the most success with low hanging arms in the Mica View Picnic Area and the Desert Ecology Trail (both stops along the road).
For the Tucson Mountain District (Saguaro West), the Bajada Loop dirt road takes you right into the heart of the desert with ample viewing opportunities.
May was always one of my favorite months in the Sonoran Desert, mostly because of these spectacular flowers.
Thanks for taking the time to be here.

They are spectacular!!
