One of my favorite seaside trails while living in the Pacific Northwest. Now closed indefinitely due to a recent landslide.
The Clatsop Loop Trail covers three miles of coastal terrain. Half inland through a dense and mossy forest, half along the towering cliffside.
Sometimes I would only hike the coastline section out and back. Enjoying the continuous ocean breeze and dramatic edges of land.
A distant view of Tillamook Rock Light, also known as Terrible Tilly, awaited on the northern coastal section. Getting smaller with each step, while taking backward glances on a return loop.
Indian Beach appears as you approach the trail’s end. A bit more picturesque and expansive than the parking lot (and bathroom) overlook.
I often arrived during low tide, giving the beach ample space to show off.
Be sure to watch your step on any trail. Sometimes coiled up friends enjoy them, too.
Thanks for taking the time to be here.
