Hello to you and June! Often the first full month our national parks start bustling with visitors as the summer season unfolds. My hope is people will respect the preserved beauty many of us enjoyed months, years, even decades prior during slower periods and when crowd control efforts were still in place.
Yosemite National Park is at the heart of our public lands, in terms of popularity and stunning views. The most famous rock formations serve as markers of time and nature taking its course across a sweeping landscape.
This month’s calendar photo was captured at Glacier Point, overlooking the valley, Half Dome’s profile, and nearby high elevation peaks. One of my favorite vantage points in the park, only accessible by vehicles when the road is free of snow a few months each year.
I remember sitting and enjoying this view for hours, grateful for the opportunity.

I just read a murder mystery that takes place in Yosemite. It's called Have You Seen Her by Catherine McKenzie. Recommended.
